By default, Google Photos is configured to back up all the photos that we take with our mobile camera. But now that the space we have for image storage is no longer unlimited, this may not suit you too much. And in this case you will need to know how to stop syncing Google Photos . In this way, only the images that we want will be uploaded to the Google service, although we will have to do it manually. If you want to prevent images from being uploaded to the service that you have no interest in having a copy of, the steps you must follow are as follows:

  1. Open the Google Photos app on your smartphone
  2. In the upper right corner, click on your profile picture
  3. Go to Photo Settings
  4. Go to the Backup and Synchronization section
  5. Uncheck the box Create Backup and Synchronization

From that moment on, the images you have stored on your smartphone will stop uploading to Google Photos automatically every time you connect to a Wi-Fi network. What you will have to do now when you want to have a backup of an image is upload it manually. In this way, you will use the service only for the photos that really interest you and not for all of them.

I DON’T WANT GOOGLE PHOTOS TO SAVE MY ANDROID PHOTOS

If the situation you find yourself in is that I don’t want Google Photos to save my Android photos , the solution is precisely to stop synchronizing the images. Therefore, we would have to follow the steps that we have indicated above, and thus none of the images on your Android would become part of the cloud storage service. Or, if you prefer, you also have the option to only sync some folders. That is, some of the folders you have on your smartphone are synchronized, but others are not. Thus, you will have greater control over the images that are uploaded to the service and those that are not.

To do this, follow the steps above until you get to Create a backup and sync. But in this case you should not disable it. Scroll down a bit further and you’ll see the Backed up device folders option. There will be a list with all the folders on your device in which image or video content is detected. And you can select or deselect each one of them to synchronize or not with Google Photos. Therefore, choosing which photos to upload and others is not quite simple.

HOW TO DELETE PHOTOS FROM GOOGLE PHOTOS AND NOT FROM THE DEVICE

Normally, when we delete a photo from Google Photos, it is also deleted from the mobile. But there will be times when you need to know how to delete photos from Google Photos and not from the device .

As we discussed earlier, you can choose to have some folders sync automatically and others not. Therefore, the solution so that if you delete a photo from Google Photos it does not end up disappearing from your device is to move it to another folder that is not synchronized with the cloud storage service. In this way, since the folder is not directly connected to Google Photos, you can have your images there without them having anything to do with what is happening in the Google service. Playing with the folders that are synchronized and those that are not is a way to have a well-differentiated device and cloud storage.

Of course, remember that in order to access an image from another device , it must be uploaded to Google Photos.
