Use Android without a Google Account: You should note that

In this article we want to show you how you can use Android without a Google account and what you should consider. Usually you are asked to set up a Google account when you set up Android. However, you can skip this step and not enter an account. However, you should be aware that you cannot use direct Google services, but your data will still land on Google. If you really want to be sure, you should immediately install a Custom Rom (keyword Android root ).

But if you don’t have or don’t want to have a Google Account, we want to explain in this short tutorial how you can still use your Android smartphone or tablet optimally. Our tutorial is divided into the various areas of mail, apps, calendars and cards.

Disadvantages without a Google account

First of all, we want to explain the disadvantages if you don’t set up a Google account and store it on Android. As a result, you cannot use Google services such as the Google Play Store, the Gmail application and much more. And accordingly, you will probably not want to use any other Google services such as Chrome, Maps or Search.

However, there are alternatives how you can still use your smartphone optimally and we show that in the following chapter.

Use Android without a Google account

Below we go into the individual services and tell you how you can replace them by means of alternatives. If you still have questions about using Android without a Google Account, just let us know in the comments. We will then try to help you accordingly.

Alternatives to Google Play

Of course, you can only use Google Play if you have a Google account. Without this, you cannot access the hundreds of thousands of apps. But there are alternatives. On the one hand, you can download the APKs directly from the Internet (see the tutorial on installing APKs from unknown sources ). However, viruses or the like can be contained in these, so caution is advised here.

Alternative app shops such as the Amazon App Shop are safer . This is checked by Amazon and is accordingly very secure. Even if the selection is nowhere near as large as on Google Play, Amazon offers you an app for free every day.

Another app shop in German-speaking countries comes from AndroidPit. We can only recommend this to a limited extent, since reference is sometimes also made to Google Play and only a fraction of apps are represented in the app shop itself, which you can install on your Android device. But if you are looking for a German provider, you should download the AndroidPit App Center. This could be of interest to you   Our smartphone recommendations for Christmas 2019 – Find out more!

Mail clients for Android

The Gmail client is really very well implemented, while the normal email app is limited to the basic things. The apps of the mail providers such as GMX, web.de, Yahoo and many more create abuses here. You can find the Yahoo Mail Client at Amazon, for example .

There are also apps that cover several providers. MyMail is available free of charge . However, we recommend the app from the mail provider directly, as this promises the highest security.

In addition, it should be said that you can not delete the Gmail app, even if it is not needed.

Bypass other Google services

There are also other applications that you should avoid using your smartphone. So there are still:

  • Browser: By default, a normal browser and often Chrome is installed. Use Firefox or the Opera Mini Browser instead
  • Search: Instead of Google, you can also search with Bing
  • Maps: Instead of Google Maps, there is also Bing Maps or the OsmAnd Maps & Navigation app, which is based on OpenStreetMap

You will not completely bypass Google on your Android device. Only a root can help. Laypersons who at least do not use all Google services or do not want to set up a Google account at all, are encouraged to consider the numerous alternatives. Even without Google Play, you can access tens of thousands of apps, use another mail client and bypass the services.
