Most purchases on the Internet are made using a bank card, and if we talk about foreign hypermarkets, then the share of such payments is much higher. The fear of “shining” the details of their payment cards (number, CVC code) on the network is still strong, so many users prefer not to enter them again.
Many online services, including AliExpress, provide this option for their users. This is called linking the card to your account – you entered the data once, and each time you place a new order, the card data is taken from your profile.
In the Chinese hypermarket, where the percentage of refunds is relatively high, the principle of “where they came from, they left there” is implemented. With regard to bank cards, this is convenient, but there are often cases when a person paid with one card, and when the need arose for a refund, its validity period expired. Therefore, it is so important to know how to link a card on AliExpress, untie it and change it to another.
Adding (binding) a card on AliExpress
It is believed that the functionality of a Chinese hypermarket website is higher than that of a mobile application. This is partly true – if we assume that it opens on a computer, then there are higher computing resources than on a smartphone. Although the difference is constantly decreasing, and the number of mobile users is growing, and willy-nilly, the creators of the service must take this into account.
One way or another, but we will give the procedure for adding a payment card for both platforms. This can be done in two ways:
- using the Alipay service;
- during checkout.
You can link several cards – there are no restrictions in this regard, but one of the cards will be the main one, and its data will be used by default when placing an order, although you will have the opportunity to change this.
Let’s consider how to add a card to AliExpress when purchasing a product through a computer:
- we carry out shopping by adding the products we like to the cart;
- when we want to place an order, press the “Buy now” button;
- a new page will open, where we indicate the delivery address of the parcel;
- once again we check the entered data (an error in the address is fraught with non-receipt of the goods);
- click on the link “Payment methods”;
- from the proposed options, select the “Map” option;
- enter the details of the card that we want to use to pay for purchases in AliExpress, click the “Confirm” button (a check mark opposite the phrase “Save card” must be present);
- when you complete the checkout, your card details will be saved for future purchases.
Thus, if you are new to AliExpress, then all you need to do to add a bank card is to go shopping. Most often, the map is linked in this way.
However, there is another option, how to link your payment card to AliExpress, which does not require making a purchase right now. We are talking about using the built-in payment service Alipay.
Procedure:
- log in to AliExpress;
- on the right side of the main page, click on the “My Profile” tab;
- go to the subsection “My AliExpress”;
- click on the “My Alipay” tab located in the upper right corner;
- go to the “Account” submenu;
- a warning appears that you are logging into the Alipay service – click OK;
- if you do not have an account on AliPay, you need to go through the registration procedure, and then enter your personal account;
- while in your profile, click on the payment card icon;
- select the “Add card” tab;
- we enter all the data on the card, we confirm.
After you have added a card, the equivalent of $ 1 will be debited from it as confirmation that your card is working. In a maximum of 24 hours, this amount will be returned to you.
Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, the ability to link a card through the Alipay service was not available in the mobile application, which confirms the thesis about the greater functionality of the site. Although in the application there are really more opportunities to save.
So, let’s look at the procedure for adding a payment card to AliExpress through a mobile application. This can be done when making a purchase for the first time:
- run the application:
- log in;
- choose the product that we want to purchase;
- click on the “Buy now” button;
- as in the version for the site, we enter our address where the parcel should arrive, carefully checking the entered information;
- click on the “Select a payment method” tab;
- from the offered options, select “Add a card”;
- enter the number, expiration date and CVC code, again carefully double-check the correctness of filling in the fields;
- when the order is placed, the card will be linked to your account.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to add a new card through the profile – you can only delete the existing one, and then you can link a new one during the next purchase.
How to change a payment card on AliExpress
This situation is not so rare. It happens that the main (credit) card has run out of money, but it is on another – salary or pension, or on the card of another family member.
You can change the payment card on AliExpress, as well as add a new one, in two ways – at checkout and through Alipay.
The first method is simpler, but it has one significant drawback – the data of only one card is saved, and if you want to return to the old card the next time, you will have to repeat the procedure and re-enter its data.
Procedure for changing the card:
- after choosing a product, click on the “Buy now” button;
a quick payment page with a linked card will appear. Since we need to add another one, when choosing a payment method, select the “Other” option;
- a page will open where you need to select the “Pay by card” item;
- we enter the details of the new card, recheck, confirm;
- we press the button “Pay now”.
As a result, money will be debited from the card, and it will become the main one. The first card data will be lost.
To be able to store the data of multiple cards, you need to register with the Alipay service. To change / add a payment card, you need to log into your account (“My Alipay” tab), hover over the card icon and select the Manage your cards option. On the page with linked cards, click on the Add card tab and enter the details of the card you want to add.
In total, the service can store the data of 5 payment cards.
How to remove a linked bank card from AliExpress
Removing cards is possible both through a computer and through a mobile application.
Let’s first consider how to untie a payment card from AliExpress through the website:
- as usual, we log in to the service, in the right block we find the “My profile” tab, go to your account;
- select the “My AliExpress” tab;
- click on the “My Alipay” icon (it is located in the upper right), and then on the “Account” tab:
- a warning will appear that you are logging out of AliExpress and logging into Alipay (a payment service developed by the parent company Alibaba). Confirm by clicking OK;
- now we select the “Maps” tab, and in the window that opens with a list of all previously entered cards, select the one that needs to be removed. Click on the “Delete” button.
As you can see, everything is extremely simple.
Unlinking / detaching the card via the mobile application is also easy, you don’t even need to have an account in the Alipay service for this:
- launch the application;
- go to your profile (the image of a man at the bottom of the screen);
- scroll down the page, select the “Services” tab, and then – the “Wallet” item;
- tap on the “Bank Cards” tab;
- select the card whose data you want to remove, press the “Delete” button.
In the same way, you can turn off the map and through the site.
As a summary, we note that linking, adding and removing cards are absolutely safe operations. If you make a mistake when entering the details, this is not fatal – the card will first be checked for validity, and the system will inform you that such a card does not exist.
