Similar projects began to appear like mushrooms after rain, and this excitement continues to this day. How can we not recall the Clubhouse, which is a year old and already has a half million subscribers, and this is with a rigid system of invitation invites?
The emergence of a new player in the person of the YRus mobile application did not go unnoticed on the Russian Internet, but there is no talk of any excitement yet. Therefore, any information about the project will be useful, especially since it is still small, as well as the number of registered users.

What is ЯRus
ЯRus is a free and ad-free mobile application available on both common platforms, that is, you can download it from both the App Store and the Google Play application store.
Developers ЯRus claim that this is the first social network in which the word “social” really reflects the concept of a team: no advertising and censorship.
Perhaps initially the project was conceived only as a news aggregator, although it is very specific, but in the end, the application’s functionality, in addition to the news feed, contains other blocks – video materials, sections for bloggers, user chats. YaRus allows you to monitor the situation in Russia and the world, look for interesting events or create your own events, create thematic selections (videos, news, blogs). The phone number is used as a login during registration.
The social network YaRus was created by Dmitry Ilyukhin, who is currently the technical director and owner of the platform.
The main advantage of the application is that it can be used as a single source of all possible information services, where you can not only follow the events, but also communicate, find like-minded people, and organize various events.
Despite such a diverse functionality, the application, unlike competitors, takes up very little memory space, providing registered users with the opportunity to maintain a personal blog and use the social network as a news search engine.
A little about the name of the community. Regardless of who owns the social network, the combination of English and Russian letters in the name of the social network speaks of an attempt to copy the naming of a well-known domestic search engine, which no one has recently disdained, at least at the level of an idea. There is one more association associated with national self-identification. In fact, the creators interpret the name of the social network in the most obvious way: YRus is tiered content, a kind of cataloging by interests, based on algorithms that use the principles of neural networks. This concept is reflected in the application’s slogan – “Everything you love. Without advertising”.
A smart social network, when providing content, is guided not only by your interests indicated in your profile. It takes into account your location, on the basis of which the news feeds of local and regional media are formed, and your online activity, and more subtle and less obvious nuances.
The lack of censorship is a rather controversial point. But, at least, there are practically no materials of category 18+ here, obscene language is also rare, although “bad” words are definitely not “poked” here. At least for now. Yes, and there is no licensed content here, the “Video” section is mainly represented by copyright materials, as well as videos that are in the public domain on other resources, with the obligatory indication of the source.
Political pluralism and the absence of blocking is largely achieved through the careful division of content into ecosystems of interest.
How to register
First you need to download ЯRus in the Play Store or AppStore. You can search either by a mixed name or in a purely Russian transcription.
Download, install, run.
At the first start, you will be asked to enter your phone number and confirm it with the code sent by SMS. Actually, this is where the registration ends with the assignment of an original and often funny name / surname to the new user, which can later be changed in the profile.
How to use
The main screen of the application offers users a list, presented in the form of several sections:
- “Tier”;
- “News”;
- “Video”;
- “Developments”.
By clicking on any of the listed categories, you open a feed with the relevant content that you can view, rate and comment on.
The “Tier” section is your personal feed made up of your posts, comments, added events. In “Tier” you have the opportunity to search for interesting authors and publications, view hashtags and create your own, by which to search for the information you need. Finally, here in the feed, you have the opportunity to become a follower of other community users, track their lives and thus keep abreast of the latest events of your favorite authors.
You can add your own publications to the list of tiers. To create a post, you need to click on the corresponding button located on the main page of the application, enter the name of the tier, indicate the area of interest, and, if necessary, the sources.
The “News” section does not need any special explanations. We select the category you are interested in and look for specific articles worthy of your attention. Usually such materials contain a link to the source.
It hardly makes sense to describe the “Video” section either. We only note that there is a lot of author’s material here – from videos of a philosophical orientation to reviews of technology. You can also add your own video here.
The last section, Events, is date-bound. You can select a specific day and see what events have happened or are planned in which location. This is where you can plan your own events, which your subscribers will learn about. When adding your event (lecture, concert, party), you can specify a captivating title and description, add a colorful cover, indicate the date and time of the event, and even the cost of an entrance ticket / subscription.
Account deleting
Many, having decided for some reason to remove the application from their smartphone, upon re-installation, are surprised to find that their profile has not gone anywhere. And they are wondering how to delete an account in YRus with all personalized information. Alas, at the time of this writing, there was no such option. And since for some this question is fundamental, one can hope that the application developers will add this feature to the functionality.
In the meantime, we can only state that the prospects for the YRus social network look rather vague. But we can say for sure that the number of community users is growing, albeit not at an alarming rate.
