Methods of getting badges on Steam

"Pillar of the Community"

Steam has a special kind of item. It is sometimes very difficult to collect and cannot be sold. This is the icon. Badges are given to gamers for their gaming and other achievements in the service. Each such “badge” brings a certain amount of experience points. And the more experience, the higher the profile level in Steam. With an increase in the level, players receive additional features, discounts and other pleasant things.

Types of icons

All badges are of several types.

  1. Gaming. Most of them. Each game that uses the card system gives the user a badge for their complete set.
  2. Length of service. This one is given for the period from the moment of registration. Accordingly, the longer you are on Steam, the more experience such a badge brings.  Example of badge for seniority
  3. Number of games purchased.
  4. Exclusive badges. How to get them – below.
  5. Secret icons. They are also discussed below.
  6. Participation in various sales: Black Friday, winter or summer.

So how do you get badges in Steam?

Gaming

These badges are the easiest to earn. But at the same time, all of them are unlikely to be collected by an ordinary gamer. There are 269 pages with such games in the “Store” in total. How can I see them all?

  1. We open the “Store” section.
  2. Enter an empty search query. If it doesn’t work, first enter any word, press Enter, then erase the query and “Enter” again.
  3. We put filters on the right: “games” and a little below “with collectible cards”.

Find collectible games

We will be shown all those games for which getting cards is available, and therefore getting badges.

You can get such a badge as follows: collect five cards from one game. Cards drop out during the time spent in the game. But at the same time, a maximum of three cards can fall out of the game. The rest must be obtained in another way. How to do it?

  • Exchange or purchase from other players. This is the main method for obtaining such cards.
  • Purchasing the game at the beta testing stage. For this you can get four or five cards at once.
  • Booster packs. If a gamer collects all the cards from a certain game and makes a badge, then they are randomly given to another player. The higher your level, the higher the chance that the booster pack will get you: the 10th level – the probability is higher by 20%, the 20th – by 40%, the 30th – by 60%, the 40th – by 80% , 50th – 100%.
  • Every nine dollars spent on Steam also gives one card.

Badge for buying games

So, having assembled a complete set, we get one such badge. Separately, it should be said that they are of two types: ordinary and metal (foil). Foil badges are awarded for receiving foil cards. They are collected in the same way, however, they fall out much less often. The probability of getting an iron card is about 1%, as a rule, even lower, but for some experienced players it reaches five percent.

Exclusive signs

There are only a few of them, however, each is rather difficult to assemble. In some cases, this is no longer even possible.

  1. Valve employee. You can only get a badge if you work for Valve. No other methods for acquiring it have yet been invented.  Valve employee
  2. Steam Community Translator. Here, again, you need to become a translator. This is already easier to do than to get a job in such a large company.
  3. Steamworks developer. Steamworks Developer has developers who have promoted their project to Greenlight, that is, they began to develop games on Steamworks. However, you can get it if you are not such a developer. It is enough to find a user with such a sign and ask him to add you to the co-developers. In any case, this is how the developer icon gets the majority of players.  Developer Steamworks
  4. Beta testing. To get this mark, simply buy the game in beta and play it. In addition, there is a “Beta Cards” icon. It is issued for testing cards.
  5. Summer Camp Steam. Now no one can take it. It was awarded in the summer of 2011 for receiving tickets for game achievements during this period. It is quite possible that someday they will introduce something like this again. Among the same badges that can no longer be collected, “The Great Treasure Hunt”, “Bag of Potatoes”, various sales over the past years.  Steam Summer Camp
  6. Virtus Pro badge. This icon is interesting in that it is issued for watching a movie, like in-game signs. You need to buy Over the dream movie. And watch it. Four cards are knocked out for this, but seven are needed to collect the badge. The other three are easiest to get through trade. After that you will become the owner of a rare “Virtus Pro”.  Virtus Pro

Here is a list of all the tasks:
