HOW DO I STOP EMAILS FROM REACHING GMAIL?
The first thing to clarify is that when we say “how to prevent emails from reaching Gmail”, we are not referring to just any email, but to those that fill up our inbox –and occupy Google’s storage space, which is no longer is 100% free -. But also if what you want is to stop receiving emails from a specific user. That is why we are going to explain below how to delete or block an email without having to open it, how to stop receiving spam, or how to cancel those –sometimes- annoying subscriptions to advertising emails.
Open your Gamail and go through it step by step!
HOW TO BLOCK AN EMAIL IN GMAIL WITHOUT OPENING IT
Knowing how to block an email in Gmail without opening it is very simple. And it is that, you may receive emails that are always the same, advertising for example; or from a person you don’t want to hear from, has it happened to you? Well, from your mobile without having to open the email, you can follow these steps:
- Enter Gmail from your mobile
- Locate the email in question
- Click on the email until it is selected
- Now click on the three dots at the top
- And locate where to put “mark as spam” and give it
This will go directly to this folder, from where it will disappear after a few days. And it will be marked as unwanted for future times.
Another option is, instead of clicking on the three dots, directly click on the trash can icon, as seen in the image. The mail will go to the deleted mail folder and in 30 days it will disappear forever.
HOW TO STOP RECEIVING PHISHING EMAILS
Before explaining how to stop receiving phishing emails , we are going to tell you what it is about. As Gmail itself explains in its FAQ section , these emails are a scam, and you have to be very careful with them.
These are “emails, advertisements or websites” that are very similar to the ones you receive regularly, and that will ask you for certain information to extract your personal data : for example, if you receive one from your bank that asks for data about your bill.
When should you alert yourself? According to Google support, these are the cases in which you should be suspicious:
- Usernames and passwords, including password changes
- Social Security Numbers
- Bank account numbers
- Personal Identification Numbers (PINs)
- credit card numbers
- your mother’s last name
- Your date of birth
Unfortunately, there is no way to stop receiving these emails, but you can always be vigilant when any of the above scenarios happen. If you receive one of these emails, check the address, and do not click on any links. As we have explained above, you can send it to Spam, in this way Google will analyze it, and will cut off the traffic of this type of scam.
HOW TO STOP RECEIVING SPAM
To know how to stop receiving spam, what you have to do is block the user who sends them to you. Whether they are in junk mail or spam or it is a subscription that you want to stop receiving. In this case, follow these steps:
- Enter Gmail from your mobile or computer.
- Open the email you want to stop receiving.
- Locate again, as we have seen above, the three dots.
- Click on Block.
What happens if this option does not appear? You may not be able to block the user as easily because Gmail hasn’t identified them as spam. In this case you will have to do a previous step. In the event that it is an advertising email, you can select the “Cancel subscription” option, if this does not appear either, mark the email as spam, as we have explained above. Once it’s in the spam folder, you can block it.
