WhatsApp now authorizes unlocking by fingerprint reader on Android. It is possible to have the application require your fingerprint after a specified period. The lock also expires notifications to prevent them from being read by prying eyes.
WhatsApp now officially supports fingerprint locking on Android. Until then, to protect your conversations, it was possible to set up a six-digit code, or even double-factor authentication. Simpler and faster, this new process should strengthen the security of the application, while preventing prying eyes from falling on your conversations: once locked, notifications can indeed be redacted from any sensitive information.
How to enable fingerprint unlock in WhatsApp
Incoming calls are not blocked, however. The functionality has already been known to iPhone users for many months. The latter can, on compatible models, even use Face ID to make unlocking even faster and more reliable. Concretely, it is possible to choose to request the impression immediately, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes. An option allows you to show or hide the content of notifications when locked.
To activate fingerprint locking / unlocking:
- 1. Open WhatsApp
- 2. Go to Settings> Accounts> Privacy
- 3. Choose the time after which the smartphone will be locked
- 4. Select whether to show or hide the content of notifications
And now, it will be more difficult for the curious to access your WhatsApp messages.
