It happens that when you turn on the Tricolor prefix, a crossed-out circle and a large inscription appear on the TV display: “Boot”. It does not disappear by itself and continues to hang, the signal does not appear. What happened and how to fix it, we will tell you further.

Causes of malfunction

“Boot” literally translates as “loading”, but the appearance of this inscription on the Tricolor set-top box is too long, which means there is no signal. It can be due to several factors:

  1. Tuner hardware failure.
  2. Damage to the power supply (it can also be simply disconnected from the outlet or inserted badly), convector, cables.
  3. Failure of the motherboard.
  4. Incorrect software installation or running damaged plugins.
  5. External interference and weather conditions.

The “Boot” inscription will disappear from the screen only when the connection is restored on the Tricolor receiver and the problem is eliminated.

What to do when the inscription “Boot” appeared on the Tricolor receiver

When “Boot” is on on the Tricolor receiver, the first thing to do is to inspect the outlet and the block. If there is no power supply or not enough power, the set-top box will not work.

  1. Unplug the appliance carefully, wait about 30 seconds and plug it back on.
  2. Make sure the plug is firmly seated in the grooves and does not slip or spark.
  3. Connect another appliance to this outlet and check if it functions well.
  4. If you are using a tee or extension cord, disconnect all equipment from it except the tuner.
  5. Measure the voltage with a multimeter (only if you know how to use it, and do not forget to set the lever to “AC”, limiting the indicator to 500 V). For beginners or people with little understanding of electricity, this is not suitable – too dangerous.

  6. Inspect all cables and wires leading to the tuner. Make sure they are intact and there is no loose connection.

It is difficult to independently check the health of the internal components of the system, but some signs may indicate a breakdown:

  • hot set-top box;
  • the smell of burning;
  • cracks;
  • traces of spilled liquid.

With these problems you will have to contact the workshop. But if they are not there, then let’s move on to checking the receiver settings:

  1. Open the “Settings” section (it may be written differently, depending on the model and company).
    Calling up the menu on the remote control
  2. Find the offer to reset to factory settings and agree to execute it.

  3. Wait for the tuner to restart.
  4. Enter a password consisting of four zeros (standard for most such devices).
  5. Log in, select a language, adjust the date and time.
  6. Initiate automatic channel search.

If there is still no signal, the tuner shows “Boot” and does not boot, perhaps something is wrong with the motherboard. Nothing can be done here – just take it to the workshop.

If you experiment with different software, plugins, etc., download them in questionable places, it turns into fatal system errors and damage to the shell. Self-flashing is theoretically not particularly difficult, but in fact, a special hardware and software device is required to write and read data in ROM. It is problematic to get one, you have to either buy or ask someone from someone, and even understand the intricacies of his work.

When the Tricolor receiver persistently writes “Boot” and does not turn on, you should go to the regional or central website of the provider and look at the ads. Perhaps the lack of response is caused by some global reasons that users were warned about in advance. In this case, there will be instructions on how to fix the problem and reconfigure the tuner so that it shows the channels again.

What to do if you can’t fix the error yourself

The answer is obvious: you need to contact the support and service center. Find the warranty card, all accompanying papers, as well as authorization data – all this will have to be presented. Free service is usually provided for one year and then canceled. You will also have to pay for repairs if:

  • you violated any of the points of the operating rules (you did not take into account the required voltage, you have problems with wiring at home, etc.);
  • dismantled the case, soldered something, changed wires, etc .;
  • dropped the tuner;
  • doused him with water, tea, coffee, etc .;
  • you are missing a document or it is filled out incorrectly;
  • you have used unlicensed pirated software.

In a word, handing over the device for the promised free repair is quite problematic, but it is possible if you show reasonable perseverance. In general, with minor breakdowns, it will not cost you too much, and you will not have to wait long either. The only exception is the fee, which will have to be ordered and transported from the warehouse.

Share your experience in the comments if your tuner also showed “Boot” in full screen once. How did you manage to cope with the problem?
