We present you all the current solutions to be able to solve the problems with the batteries of the Samsung Gear S3, Gear Sport, and Galaxy Watch.

During the last few weeks, more and more users have observed problems with the batteries that are in multiple models of Samsung smartwatches. Specifically, both the Samsung Gear S2, the Gear S3Gear Sport, and the Galaxy Watch were affected by these problems. In some units, an accelerated discharge of the batteries has even been observed, especially during the night.

Samsung has already acknowledged these issues and said it is working on a fix. However, it is not known exactly why these watches began to drain more battery than normal. But now Samsung has prepared a temporary solution for the Gear S3 and the Gear Sport .

Samsung has prepared an APK plugin to solve the problems of the Gear S3 and the Gear Sport

Samsung’s temporary solution is to create an APK Plugin that is installed through an Android smartphone (better if it is a Samsung). A plugin is a tool that can be integrated into another application (also considered as “base”) in order to fulfill certain functions.

In this case, the functionality of this plugin is to completely reset the watch batteries . However, while some users saw their problems fixed, others were unable to download or install the APK application on their mobile phones. Similarly, this solution would have forced automatic update for other users.

These are the steps you must follow to apply this solution :

  • Download and install the  Gear S plugin [APK]  on your Android mobile (if you have an iPhone it is not possible).
  • Restart the mobile and the watch.
  • Pair your smartwatch with your mobile.

Data collection is the main cause of these problems

Samsung smartwatches collect multiple usage data in order to send it back to the company’s servers so that the company can improve the user experience over time, just like any other smart device.

It is a feature that allows gadget makers to passively collect data in order to provide better services going forward either through updates or in their upcoming products.

But it seems that this data collection and its subsequent sending to Samsung’s servers are having negative effects on battery life. Although at first, it should not why affect the autonomy, some users have confirmed that stopping the collection of reports and usage habits on the Samsung Gear S3 and the Gear Sport has also stabilized the discharge rate of the batteries.

Therefore, below we are going to present an alternative solution to solve this problem (via IoTGadgets ) .

All you have to do to reset the smartwatch battery is go to Settings (Settings)>> Information of the product (or Gear Info). In this section, you must deactivate the Diagnostic and usage reports option. Then you have to restart the smartwatch. Thus, accelerated battery discharge should stop.

Samsung is probably not going to acknowledge that the capacity of the batteries has been affected by the “diagnostic and usage information” functionality, but rather that the company will simply fix the problem in a different way, as the data it collects is very important to improve your products and services.

Although both solutions have worked well for many users, others claim that uninstalling and reinstalling the Samsung Health app also gives good results on battery life. So you can also try this if you are experiencing these problems.

As soon as the company launches an official solution we will notify you through this same section and we will update this article.
