How to increase the volume of your cell phone (even beyond the limit)

You have raised the volume of the cell phone to the maximum with the volume up button. The indicator on the screen confirms it and in Settings> Sound> Volume you see the same. You have also checked that the equalizer has high levels in all controls (Adjustments, Sound, Effects). However, the mobile still rings low. If you haven’t overlooked those basics, then there are a few apps that can force an increase in device volume.

Before installing something, if your phone doesn’t ring make sure that the «Do not disturb» mode (that mutes the device) as well as Bluetooth (that could be transferring the sound to another device) are disabled. Also clean the phone speaker (s) (may need to be disassembled). Commonly a reduced volume is due to the speaker being filled with dust.

It shouldn’t be difficult to perceive the increase in volume that apps get below. However, if you want to confirm it, a sound meter can help you.

Warning : Raising the volume above the maximum allowed can alter the sound quality and even damage the speaker of the equipment or make it hoarse after periods of prolonged use.

VLC

VLC is a powerful media player that claims to increase volume by 200%. It is not so much, but something is increased. The option that you should activate is in Preferences> Video> Audio support.

However, it is not all. Play the content you want (video or music), open the “Equalizer” (if the “Save changes” window appears, discard it) and finally move the slider to the right to increase the volume. The change is not immediate; Wait a moment to notice the volume increase.

Volume Boosters

There are many such apps on Google Play, but most display invasive advertising. In addition, its operation is inconsistent (sometimes they turn up the volume, sometimes they don’t). If in spite of that you want to try some, this is the one that I tried. It has an amazing 4.7 / 5 rating.

This is one of the most powerful apps to customize the audio of your device at a general level. You can regulate the level of increase, the quality of the audio, not only from the integrated speakers of the cell phone, but also from the Bluetooth headphones and speakers.

Its biggest disadvantage is that you will need root permissions to make it work.

Others

I have also tried other quite recommended apps, such as Equalizer or Equalizer FX, which are not only equalizers but also have a sound amplifier. However, I have been cheated on these apps. They reduce the volume of the device when activated. When you turn on their enhancer, they turn up the volume they turned down, making you believe they actually increase the volume.

MX Player is a popular app that also claims to increase the volume of videos by 200%. For this you must enable the Settings> Audio> Increase volume option. Then you must also activate Settings> Decoder> Decoder for HW + (local). Unfortunately I have not seen any change in volume with this app.

If you miss calls on your cell phone due to increasing volume (the volume goes from less to more, gradually or incrementally), you may be using an app with this effect that you should uninstall. If this behavior is ex-factory, disable it with the Disable Increasing Ring app.

External speaker

The sound level of any mobile device is limited. If you want more volume, plug it into an external computer or speaker for a huge increase in volume without losing quality. You don’t have to invest a lot of money to get that. From $ 26 you can buy a high-quality Bluetooth speaker like the Ontzz Angle. Or you can turn any speaker into a Bluetooth one with a simple adapter.
