Samsung’s latest phablet, the Galaxy Note 9 , is an excellent smartphone. It has a large battery, a retreaded S Pen and all the functions we expect from a smartphone from the Korean company. But there are a few things that you should know or can improve. We show you the best tips and tricks for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
- Galaxy Note9 in the test: Samsung has what no one else has

The problem
One of the highlights of the Galaxy Note 9 is the pen, the so-called S Pen. Samsung has equipped it with many new functions this year, for example, it can be used as a remote control for various functions. This is made possible by the Bluetooth connection to the smartphone, but unfortunately not everything always works as intended. If your button on the S Pen no longer functions as desired, you don’t have to go to the service center straight away.
Solution 1
First of all, you should check whether all settings are set up correctly, because the decisive check mark for an option could simply be missing. The corresponding function is located under the quick settings, see here whether it is activated. If you don’t find the button right away, you could also find it under Settings -> Advanced functions -> S Pen -> S Pen remote control .
Solution 2
The connection to the S Pen could also have been disconnected. This never happened during my test phase, but if it should happen to you, it doesn’t matter. The solution is quick and easy.
To reconnect the S Pen to the Galaxy Note 9, simply open the settings and click on the three dots at the top right under Advanced functions> S Pen> S Pen remote control . Here you will find the option “Reset S Pen”. If you follow the instructions on the screen, you can use the Note 9’s unique gadget again.

The battery doesn’t last long enough
The problem
Despite the large battery with 4,000 mAh, the Galaxy Note 9 is truly not a long-distance runner. It always lasts until the end of the day, but not anymore. However, if you have major problems with runtime and excessive battery consumption, you can try the following.
The solution
The problem could be caused by too many energy-hungry apps or simply badly programmed apps. You can check which apps swallow the most battery yourself under Settings> Device maintenance> Battery . If you notice unusual values here, you should uninstall the app as a test.
Charging takes too long
The problem
The battery can not only discharge too quickly, it can also take too long to charge. But even here you may save yourself the trip to the service center and fix the problem yourself.
The solution
Checks the charger. It is recommended to always use the charger included with the smartphone. It supports Samsung’s adaptive fast-charging technology and thus always ensures the highest possible speed. There are compatible models from third-party providers, but if you want to be on the safe side, always use standard accessories.
The Galaxy Note 9 has crashed or does not respond to any commands
The problem
Fortunately, I never had this problem with our test copy, but that doesn’t mean anything and you’re better prepared. If your smartphone freezes, it can’t just be restarted thanks to the built-in battery. If it does happen, you don’t have to worry, there are solutions to the problem.
The solution
In this situation, press the volume up button and the power button at the same time and hold them down for about 10 seconds. Release the buttons as soon as the name of the smartphone appears on the screen and the Note 9 can be put into operation again. If it does not start again after this move, the problems are probably more serious and not easy to solve.
