Android *: Accept, reject, mute, make louder or hold – call control is a basic function on all cell phones and the necessary functions are intuitive in themselves so that you can do little wrong. In this article, however, we have prepared the overview and described some functions that are not used so often.
Android: Answer or reject calls
Incoming calls are signaled in the mobile phone in several ways. Normally, the call is shown on the entire display and you can see a graphic below with a red, blue or green handset. In the upper part there are instructions for the call, i.e. the number, often the country and sometimes also the location for a landline number. Then you can decide how you want to handle the call.
- Answer a call: swipe from the center onto the blue or green handset
- Reject call: swipe from the center onto the red handset
For some models, you can just tap the corresponding icon, but that depends on both the manufacturer and the model – so not all smartphones *.
Some apps only show a small notification about the call. There is then less information and only two buttons (reject or accept). There you simply tap on the option you want to use.
In the case of annoying contemporaries, you can also block the phone numbers directly and block the contact . Then you no longer have to manually reject the calls, the mobile phone does it automatically.
Mute calls on Android
Muting calls is useful if you have other questions or want to briefly clarify certain things without the caller having to listen. This can be done in two ways:
- you switched off your own microphone (the crossed out microphone symbol)
- the call is paused (the pause button with the two bars)
In both cases, the caller can no longer hear what is being said on the cell phone. But you should tell the caller before you activate this option, otherwise it can look very rude (to be careful).
Important: Mute does not end the call, so the connection remains. You can unmute and then continue to make calls. On the other hand, costs can also arise if you forget that the call continues and you may have to pay for it.
Android: make calls louder or quieter
The volume of the call can be influenced directly using the volume buttons. This is also possible directly after you have accepted the conversation. You can control the volume on almost all Android * devices using these buttons. As a rule, the caller is not aware of this either. You can adjust the volume during the conversation so that it is pleasant and you can understand the other person.
Android: hold calls
The function to hold or pause calls is important if you want to do other things on your cell phone (or externally). The call is then moved to the background and you can, for example, look up a number or accept another call.
It is quite easy to hold calls using the control panel for calls. There is the hold / pause button consisting of two vertical bars (||). If you press this button, the call is put on hold and you can resume it by tapping this button again. Then the call continues as normal.
When holding or pausing, the caller can no longer hear what is being said on the cell phone. But you should tell the caller before you activate this option, otherwise it can look very rude (to be careful).
