One of the things that many WhatsApp users are most concerned about is their privacy. After all, the use of the profile picture and the possibility of publishing statuses leaves us very exposed to anyone who has our phone number. Luckily, the application has tools that allow us to control a little better who has access to our content and who does not. All we need is to know how to choose who can see your profile picture and status on WhatsApp to deny access to those we don’t want.

The different options we have when choosing who sees our content are the following:
- Everyone – Anyone who has your phone number will be able to access that information
- My contacts : the information that you are configuring will be available only to those people that you have saved in your agenda
- My contacts, except… : you can block your profile photo or your status so that a specific person does not see them
- Nobody : the information you are configuring will remain hidden from all users
In addition, you should also know that those people you have blocked will not have access to any of the news you make in these issues. That is, they will be able to see the profile picture that you had on before you blocked them, but if you modify it, they would no longer have access to it. And the same would happen with the states, those published after the blockade will not be able to be seen.
It is also interesting to know that it is not necessary to have the same settings for all aspects of your account . In other words, it is possible that you want anyone to have access to your profile picture, but instead you prefer that no one outside your contacts can see your statuses. You will be able to do it without major problems, since we are talking about two different configurations.
WHERE ARE THE PRIVACY OPTIONS IN WHATSAPP
Now that you know what aspects you can modify, it’s time to find out where the privacy options are in WhatsApp to put them to your liking.
If you have an Android mobile, the first thing you should do is open the application and press the icon with three vertical dots that will appear at the top of the screen. In the menu that will appear next you will have to enter Settings> Account> Privacy . Next, you will be able to see how the different aspects of which you can modify privacy appear on the screen. If you tap, for example, on Profile photo, you can choose the privacy settings you want for that aspect. Then you can do the same with the states, as well as with any other aspect that you want to change some aspect of to improve your security.
In the event that you have an iPhone, the process is very similar. You just have to open the app and go to Settings>Account>Privacy . Once there, all the aspects of which you can configure privacy will appear so that you can make the changes you deem necessary. The privacy options available are the same for Android as for iPhone, so once you’ve managed to get to them you won’t find any difference when it comes to configuring them to your liking.
It is important that you know that there is no option to hide when we are online or when we are writing a message. So you should be careful with any third-party app that promises you this, as it might test your security.
