The renewed company HONOR already has its first flagship in Spain. But what can HONOR 50 do for you and what are its strengths? We wanted to dive directly into the camera application after the premise of having a 108 megapixel main sensor mounted on a very attractive and round module. Although the interesting thing is not so much in the photographic result, where it fully complies, but in the video options. This is where this smartphone stands out with innovative formats that promise to fill social networks with multi-camera videos and other options that we are going to explain to you here .
WHAT’S BEHIND THE DOUBLE RING OF CHAMBERS
First of all, before we dissect the video options that HONOR 50 offers, let’s take a look at the technical side. And it is just as important is the software as the hardware, which collects light and information from the environment. I already commented above that the jewel of this photographic crown is the 108 megapixel sensor in the upper bright ring of this curious camera module. A module that, by the way, fits really well in a mobile loaded with curves such as the one on the side of the screen or its bright back cover with a very striking design. But what interests us here is that 108 megapixel sensor that is also ultra-clear and very versatile to solve low-light situations and that has Artificial Intelligence and the camera app.
But it is important to know that it has three more sensors with different lenses. One of them, 8 megapixels, with an ultra wide angle lens to capture more space. Another 2 megapixel, with a macro lens to capture very close details. And finally, another 2 megapixel sensor focused on capturing depth and getting a good bokeh effect.
And, of course, there is a front camera for selfies of no less than 32 megapixels and that offers a lot of versatility. And the key is not in what all these objectives can achieve individually, but in how to play with them and combine them.
MULTI-RECORDING, THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF THIS HONOR 50
It is the most striking and different mode of this smartphone. And that is why, as standard, it comes with its own section in the camera application. It consists of using the full capacity of the Snapdragon 778 5G processor and collecting information directly from two of the equipment’s cameras. At once.
We only have to go to the mode so that the camera for selfies and the rear one are activated as standard. However, in the button in the shape of a rectangle with a smiley face at the top, we can display the rest of the formats. There are several for what we need to do:
- Show the image captured by the selfie camera and the main rear (rear and front)
- Use two of the rear cameras at the same time (wide angle and main)
- Use the picture in picture mode where a camera captures the main scene and a smaller square (that we can move through the scene) another of the cameras, such as the selfie.
- Use only one camera (front or rear) but be able to switch between them without making cuts in the video, as happens in Instagram stories.
With all this the creative possibilities skyrocket. You can, for example, show yourself running to see your exertion face in part of the video and, at the same time, show the stage you are running through. You can also feel a creative film direct and frame an entire scene with the wide angle in the middle of the screen and zoom in on some detail in the other half. All this without neglecting situations such as recording someone with the rear camera and putting your face on that person with the picture in picture mode. The limit is only set by your creativity.
And the best thing, if you are an ace in this to record, you can take advantage of a group of clips or videos to mount a more elaborate video in Story mode . Here you just have to select the clips and the camera app does everything to put transitions and music. Perfect content to attract attention on your social networks.
MANY MODES AND VERY ACCESSIBLE
But let’s get to what we’re going: the camera app. It is a simple and quite agile tool to move between all the available modes. Just swipe left or right along the carousel that appears just above the shutter button. And there are plenty of options beyond the classic photo and video modes.
- Portrait : it is the way to get selfies or portraits with bokeh or blur effect. You can turn this effect on or off with the button that appears just above the mode, but you can also tweak the beauty settings.
- Night mode : ideal for capturing low-light scenes. Artificial Intelligence is responsible for cleaning the image
- Aperture : a photo mode in which to choose the aperture to control the focused space. The result is a photo taken with a reflex camera, playing with blur.
- More : here are listed other modes that you may not use as much, but that are useful to take advantage of all the hardware and software of this HONOR 50. Remember that you can edit the section to bring to the carousel those that interest you the most. They are as follows:
- Professional : in which you can modify each specific value like a professional to get the photo you want
- Panoramic : a mode that gathers shots to create a super long photo
- HDR : in case you need an extra contrast so as not to miss the nuances of the scene
- Time- lapse : a video mode for recording fast-motion
- Watermark : in case you want to leave your stamp on each photo
- Documents : very useful for scanning documents from a photo and making them more legible. Almost as if you had used a scanner
- Super macro : a photo-only mode to achieve sharp details in scenes and objects up to 4 cm away from the camera
- High resolution : it is the photo mode in which you take advantage of those 108 megapixels of the camera
And we remove from the list two that are the true novelties of this new HONOR 50 compared to what other mobiles offer today. On the one hand, there is the Story mode, with templates to create videos from different clips with all kinds of transitions and music. And on the other, there is the Multi-recording mode . In fact, within Multigrab we find a shortcut to Stories to take advantage of everything it has to offer.
